All friendships have an origin story, this is ours...

In '89/90 when Volcom's co-founder, Richard Woolcott met Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament when he was making the Kelly Slater film 'Black & White' and wanted to license the Mother Love Bone songCapricorn Sister for the soundtrack.

Then in 1992, just the second year into Volcom's existence - when getting a Volcom Stone sticker meant getting one cut out by hand, likely from Wooly himself - Volcom was set to build a ramp to skate at 'Drop In The Park' a day long outdoor concert organized by Pearl Jam at Gas Works Park in Seattle on May 23rd. The concert was canceled last minute by the city, but the Volcom team, already on their way to Seattle weren't going to let this setback stop them from throwing an event of their own that weekend. With the help of a local group of Seattle skaters and Eddie and Pearl Jam and their friends, the day that affectionately became known as 'Day In The Dirt', was cemented forever in Volcom lore.

Pearl Jam and Volcom combined forces to release this exclusive organic cotton blend, slim-fit t-shirt to commemorate the re-issue of "Ten" in March 2009. The shirts were sold on Volcom's website, our stores and at select surf/skate retailers. Volcom stores also sold the "Ten" Super Deluxe Edition reissue box set. Those who purchased the t-shirt also received a 7" vinyl record with live recordings of "Even Flow" and "Porch".

Later that year in 2009 when Backspacer was released, Volcom again partnered with Pearl Jam to produce a t-shirt and limited edition 7" that came with the shirt as a gift with purchase. We ended up running out of Fixer 7"s but were able to acquire some of the Unknown Thought 7"s we made for a similar promotion in Europe and were able to offer them to people that were interested in getting a tee and 7".

On October 15th, 2013 in celebration of the release of Lightning Bolt, Pearl Jam and Volcom have teamed up to bring you the Pearl Jam Pop-Up shop located in Volcom's New York City store. There were limited edition Pearl Jam X Volcom X Don Pendleton tees and Don was on hand doing some live painting.

Then in the spring of 2016 Volcom and Don Pendleton released a collaborative clothing capsule. Pendleton widely known for his skateboard graphic also did the artwork for Pearl Jam's Lightning Bold album. Get a peak of Jeff Ament's bowl at his Missoula, Montana home when graciously hosted the Volcom Skate Team and friend Don Pendleton to film a video to promote Don's 2016 Volcom Featured Artist collection.
